What We Offer - National Curriculum |

Here at Lewisham Community Sports we offer a wide range of sporting and social outlets for children in our area, The main focus for all our activates is centred on participation , inclusion, enjoyment, teamwork and fair play through the medium of sport. Our coaching sessions can be tailor-made to meet the needs of your children and school, and all sessions are structured to facilitate the delivery of the National Curriculum for PE at all key stages in both primary and secondary schools. Our coaching staff are also experienced at working with SEN schools. Lewisham Community Sports continues to support the Physical Education School Sport and Club Links Strategy (PESSCL) by offering curriculum and after school coaching sessions.
Our Curriculum Programme Lewisham Community Sports offers a wide range of sports and team building sessions. We can offer many different schemes of work for schools and also personally plan out programmes to suit anyone’s needs. Have a look at our one of our lesson plans and also check out the video of some of the sessions.
Football - Introduces and develops basic techniques, associated skills, attacking and defensive plays, team fundamentals and rule of the game. Athletics - This includes a full range of running, jumping and throwing events Tag Rugby - Introduces children to the basic skills of rugby: passing and receiving the ball, defensive play and the rules of Tag Rugby. Basketball - Introduces and develops, dribbling, passing, offensive and defensive play, team fundamentals, 3 v 3's and rules of the game. Core Movements - Promotes the development of fundamental motor skills and essential coordination and movement experiences for age groups from Foundation to Key Stage 4. Cricket - introduces and develops basic cricket skills and techniques, team fundamentals and rules of cricket. Netball - Introduces and develops key skills for netballs including passing, shooting and defensive and attacking plays.
Through participation in these coaching sessions children will not only improve their basic skills but also their knowledge and understanding of acquiring and developing skills; selecting and applying skills, tactics and compositional ideas; evaluating and improving performance and gain an understanding of health and fitness.
Our Coaching sessions follow the guidelines set out in the National Curriculum for PE and are adapted to accommodate each key stage. The planning of our sessions focuses upon inclusion, skill development, team fundamentals, fair play and health and safety. Curriculum sessions can be used to provide cover during PPA time and can be solely activity based or can be combined with our classroom workshops. They can also be run after school to help achieve the minimum requirements of two hours per week of high quality PE and school sport. All staff have appropriate qualifications in the designed sport, are CRB checked, have a first aid certificate and are subject to our own coach development programme. |
